9 Months Old

So I am a little bit behind on blogging......Sadie was 9 months a couple of weeks ago, but I am finally getting around to documenting it! I can not believe she is this old, I always tell Devin that I want her to stay little forever, but she just keeps growing - I am loving this age. She doesn't seem to feel the same way because she is in a hurry to do everything. We went to our doctors appointment and Sadie kept showing off by standing up not holding on to things, walking around holding on to the furniture at the office and Dr. Witt kept saying, "Sadie what's the hurry." Needless to say she is our little active mover! She is standing up on her own, walking around holding on to anything that will support her (including other kids which I think scares some of the other kids because as she uses them to stand up sometimes she pulls their pants off! I am trying to stop that - We are working on it), and she is crawling all the way upstairs by herself. She was 18 lbs 7 oz (45%) and 28 1/2 in (83%), as for now she is tall, we will see how that pans out because when your mom is 5'1" I feel like she doesn't have a great chance at being tall.
Here she is with her Mohawk that daddy gave her in the bathtub. We seriously don't know what to do with her hair, but we love it. Her hair is crazy in the back, always sticking up like a rooster! I love when she wakes up from her nap and I go in because I never know what her hair is going to look like. As you can tell from the picture she loves taking baths and playing with her toys in the tub. After we get her undressed she crawls as fast as she can to the tub and stands by the side just bouncing with excitement waiting to get in. The bathroom is probably her favorite room in the house because she has discovered the toilet paper and thinks it is the best toy ever invented.

Everything goes into her mouth, somehow she seems to find the smallest piece of paper or leaf or whatever and puts it directly into her mouth. I can always tell when she has something because she sits and stares at me knowing she has something she should not have. I love that she has a guilty face, I hope that comes in handy in the years to come! She still just has the 2 bottom teeth, but that still does not stop her from biting everything! Her favorite word to say is still "DA DA", I love hearing her say it, it is so cute! Occasionally we get "na na" and "ma ma", but not that often, not often enough for me. Her little voice is too cute, I could listen to it all day.

She is still a good little eater. We finally got her a highchair and she loves it. Her favorite foods are; sweet potatoes, bananas, banana bread, yogurt melts, graham crackers, teething biscuits, and nutri grain bars. She eats anything we give her, we are so thankful! We gave her a salt and vinegar chip the other day because she really wanted it thinking that she would hate it. She licked it, made a hilarious sour face and then squealed with delight, she loved it! I can't believe the things she will eat. I gave her a bite of ice cream for the first time the other day and after her first bite she went "mmm", it was so funny! The picture above is her in her highchair with her teddy. She has started having days where she wants to take this teddy bear with her where ever she goes. That day she really wanted it to sit with her while she ate lunch!

This last picture is of her at her new favorite spot, the bottom of the stairs holding on to the gate. She would climb the stairs all day if we let her, so sometimes we have to put up the gate. She just waits at the bottom holding on until we take it down again, what a funny girl. I love being a mom and I am especially grateful everyday to be Sadie's mom. I can't wait for the next 9 months to see what adventures we have in store, we love you Sadie!

What We Have Been Up To!

We have been keeping busy with all kinds of summer fun......
We have been taking a lot walks and Sadie is loving them. Here is a picture of her after a walk out in the heat (sorry for the topless shot, she was really hot!) doing her favorite thing, drinking water from a big cup. You can tell how much she loves it just by her face!

Swimming is one of our favorite things lately. My parents got us passes to a Cherry Hill, a fun water park by our house, for my birthday and we are having so much fun there. Sadie loves the water, she is a little fish. We probably go to the pool at least 3 times a week, it is too much fun watching her. She loves crawling through the baby section (I could not get a picture of her face, she was so focused on crawling) and loves the lazy river.

We have been doing a little hiking. Here is Devin and Sadie on our hike in Ogden Canyon. Sadie was so happy to strapped on to Daddy, she loved when we got down to the river and we put her feet in the water.

I have been busy making Sadie's baby food. I had a friend tell me how easy it was and convinced me that I would like doing it and I really have. Sadie really seems to like it and I like knowing exactly what she is eating, plus it really does save a lot of money. So far I have made, sweet potatoes, green beans, peas, squash, nectarines, and mangoes. This is a picture of sweet potatoes, after you have cooked the food and pureed it, then you put it in ice cubes trays, transfer them to Ziploc bags and then thaw whatever you want when it is time to eat. It is so easy and I am loving it.

Lastly, we have been having a lot of picnics. I discovered the Farmington trails that are not far from our house. We really love walking on these trails because they are tree covered and keep us cooler, run along a river with a lot of fun bridges, and have fun picnic spots. Here we are after one of our picnics this weekend, so fun!
We are loving summer!

4th of July - A Wonderful Weekend!!

I love the 4th of July, it is one of my favorite holidays and this year we had a wonderful one! We were able to spend time with both of our families and have so much fun. Our fun included boating, swimming, eating, cousins playing, the parade, and fireworks; so many great memories!Sadie and I on the boat, Sadie loved her first boat ride. The faster Grandpa drove the boat the louder Sadie talked, she was loving it!
Devin, Darren, Sadie and Ryder, aren't they all so cute!

Grandpa and Camille driving the boat! Camille had been excited about riding the boat for weeks and she was even brave enough to ride the tube.

Devin slalom skiing, he did an awesome job and stayed up forever. June (devin's mom) kept saying look at his sweet skills, I was impressed! I went tubing with June and Azelynn which I will have fun memories of June standing up on the tube and then us all going in head first when I leaned forward a little too much! And then Devin and I tubing together and having fun figuring out how to not fly off, then skipping across the water when we eventually did!

Sadie looking adorable in her life jacket, what a cutie. This is my favorite picture from the weekend.

Camille and Sadie at the parade in my parents wagon, what fun girls.

The Smith crew at the parade (plus Carson and Dylan). My parents, Carson and our friends the Hansens were able to meet up with us for the parade. It was fun to all be together. Steve set up stadium seating in the back of his truck, it was perfect, thanks Steve for getting us wonderful seats.

Sadie and Devin at the parade, Sadie with her come-over sunscreen hair.

Sadie and Brynnley at the picnic at my parents house, looking so cute and patriotic!

We had a wonderful weekend and can't wait for the next time we can all be together!

The Past Few Weeks

The past few weeks have been busy ones here at our house and blogging has not been my top priority (I know it is a shock), so now I am playing catch up. We have packed and unpacked and moved up to Kaysville, UT and are pretty much settled in. And I can not explain how nice it is to have Devin only driving 15 minutes to work instead of 60, we feel like we have gotten 2 hours of our life back. We are really loving our new place and we are loving Kaysville, it a fun little town. But, before our big move we were up to a few things.
My wonderful friend Jena came to stay and visit us for a few days from Cinncinatti. It was SO fun to have her here and to be able to catch up. It was great to shop, go out to eat and just stay up late talking. Jena, thanks for coming to visit us we had so much, we can't wait for you to come again soon! And I am working on Sadie saying "Jena", hopefully by the next time you come!
We also celebrated Devin's first Father's Day! Sadie and I framed her handprint and made a little gift for Daddy. We had a fun day with family. I am truly grateful for a wonderful husband who is an amazing dad, I am glad we had a day to show him how much we appreciate him. We are also grateful for our wonderful fathers and grandfathers, we love you.

And of course Sadie has gotten even bigger and more active over the past few weeks. As you can tell from the picture above she is loving it at our new home. She is 8 months old now and is into everything. She loves talking (pretty much "Da Da" is the word of choice) and inching along on her little belly to get where she wants to go. Her inch worm crawl is the topic of conversation every where we go, we love it and think it is the cutest thing ever. She is starting to get on her knees and rock and move a few steps with her knees, but if she really wants to get somewhere quickly that is where the inch worm comes in handy. She is also pulling her self up to standing using furniture. She LOVES the coffee table and many days she spends hours standing up and then falling down on her bum around it. She likes to stand up and yell to us proudly. We got a gate for the stairs at our new home, but she really has taken no interest in them yet, she does have an interest though in everything else she is not suppose to have like paper, pens, my keys, cords, etc. And our new favorite thing is chewing on her crib with her two little teeth. We seriously can not believe all of the damage she has done with just two teeth! She is still a good little eater and is loving trying new food. When she is excited about something we know it because she moves her arms up and down really fast and talks, it is so fun. She is now also bathing in the big girl tub and loves it. She flips from her back to her belly and then to her back again, we are getting a little wetter than before, but it is completely worth it to see the joy on her face. We are loving watching her personality come alive. We LOVE you Sadie!

Our Anniversary Weekend

May 25th was our 2nd anniversary, but we celebrated this past weekend and it was wonderful!! We had so much fun just being together We were so grateful to Devin's parents for taking Sadie for the night and letting us have a night together. We went up to Midway, UT to the Johnson Mill Bed and Breakfast, it is a beautiful Bed and Breakfast. We had a really pretty room that had vaulted ceilings and this big stone fireplace. Here is a picture of Devin in front of the fireplace.
Here is a picture of the old mill, that night that we got there we went on a little hike around the grounds, it was gorgeous. We saw a lot of wildflowers and were able to watch three deer playing only about 15 feet from where we were standing. It was a wonderful weekend and I am so grateful to be married to my best friend. Thank you for picking me Devin, I love you!!!Not the best picture of us, but the only one I took of us together! After we left the Johnson Mill that next morning we were able to go to the Provo Temple for a few hours. I had never been inside before and what a beautiful temple it is, I was grateful for the blessing to go there and do temple work. We did sealings and reminded me of the feelings I had on the day that Devin and I were married and sealed together forever, I am truly grateful to spend forever with Devin.

On Saturday after we were able to spend time with Devin's family celebrating Devin's dad and our nephew Ryder's birthday's. We had a fun picnic and played a round of miniature golf. Above is a picture of Sadie and I at the picnic and below is the cute birthday boy! It was a fun afternoon.

7 Months Old - Where has the time gone?

Sadie is now 7 months old and I can not believe it, where has the time gone? What a little wiggler we have on our hands! She wants to be on the move 24 hours a day, she has started to roll to get where she wants to go. And just this last week she has started to inch along like a little worm and get on her hands and knees and rock! I do not know how long it will be before she is crawling, but I just hope we move before that happens so that I can baby proof before she is really moving. I have had to set up a few barricades because she has discovered things like the fireplace, I really don't feel like cleaning black ash off her everyday so I had to fix that problem! I love watching her learn that she can do new things and it has so been really fun watching her discover that she can get to where she wants to go by herself. She loves to talk and hear her own voice, right now "Da Da" is her favorite thing to say and "Na Na Na" when she is mad. Devin is loving the "Da Da" and I am wishing for "Ma Ma" soon. She loves baby food and has not turned anything away yet and I am grateful. Her two bottom middle teeth has broken through and are working their way up, she loves to grab the spoon with them now. She loves to be thrown in the air, suprised and tickled! We are loving our sweet girl and are grateful for her everyday! She kept trying to knock the laundry basket over to get into it, so I helped her out and put her in. She loved it and was happy in there for half an hour!

Loving her stroller and taking walks! Now that she is strong enough to lean forward, sucking on the tray is her favorite walk activity.

Cute daddy and daughter picture! Devin with his cute new hair!

Sadie + Swings = LOVE

We have been going to the park and taking walks quite a bit lately. The other day we went to a park that we had not been to in a while and I noticed that they have the baby swings. I thought we would give it a try and she LOVED it (loved is an understatement!). So last night Devin and I took her there and we got some really cute pictures that really capture how she feels about swinging! She laughed, kicked her legs, and yelled when it was time to go home (I didn't think that crying when you leave some place started until at least 1, but I guess I was wrong!)

On Sunday we went to Wheeler Farm and had a picnic, it was really fun. Here's a cute picture of Sadie and Devin playing.
