Someone was AFRAID of SANTA!

I think this picture explains Sadie's feelings about Santa, but don't we all need a crying Santa picture from our childhood!

Christmas Cookies and Zoo Lights

We have been having so much fun this Christmas season, I love this time of year! It has been so fun to have a child this Christmas and to see Sadie's reaction to everything, it has made it that much better. A few weeks ago we made sugar cookies, decorated them and took them to family and friends. Sadie really enjoyed eating them!

She loved the cookies!
We also were able to go to the lights at the Zoo with my family. It was a cold night, but we all wore a lot of layers and stayed suprisingly comfortable. I think Sadie thought we had lost it with all of the layers that we put on her, but she was warm! As you can tell from the picture her arms are straight out to the sides because of all of her layers. We all really liked the lights, Sadie "Ooed and Aahed" and pointed at all of the ones that she liked (i think the giraffee was her favorite). After we all went out to dinner, it was a really fun night and a fun tradition for our family!

Our Thanksgiving!

For thanksgiving this year we were with Devin's family. Sadie and I were able to go and stay at Devin's parents house after the wedding through Thanksgiving weekend. Devin went back home for a few days of work and then joined us on the Tuesday night before thanksgiving. We were able to have a lot of fun with Grandpa and Grandma and all of the Smith cousins. On Tuesday we got all of the kids together to make oreo turkeys for the place settings for Thanksgiving. It turned out being a little bit harder than we thought so the adults and Azelynn (our 4 year old niece) made the turkeys and the rest of the kids just ate candy. They did turn out pretty cute though!
On Wednesday I was able to go to Kneaders and help hand out all of the ordered pies and rolls which was fun to be able to spend time with my family. It was a little crazy at times, but with that many orders it is bound to get a little crazy - we were happy to say though that we didn't have a single lost or messed up order which is pretty amazing for that many orders - good job guys! The night before thanksgiving we had a pie party to celebrate of the birthdays in the Smith family in November (4 all within a few days of each other, including Devin's) which was really fun and I am always excited to eat pie when ever! Then on Thanksgiving day all of Devin's family was here and we had a wonderful time watching the parade, eating, playing and having fun. Sadie took a nap during Thanksgiving dinner, so Devin and I had a very relaxed dinner, we loved it! When Sadie woke up she ate her thanksgiving and loved every bite of it. We had a great week and here is a cute picture of my cute sweeties on Thanksgiving!

Slowly Catching Up!

I have been a bit behind on my blogging lately, but I am trying to catch up, so bear with me. I wanted to catch up on Thanksgiving and the fun activities we have done since then because I know there will be many Christmas pictures coming soon and I don't want to fall that far behind!
The weekend before thanksgiving Devin's youngest brother Sean got married and it was a wonderful day! We are so glad that Jean is part of our family now, we are glad that Sean found such a wonderful person to spend forever with. I was able to do the flowers and that is always fun. They got married in the Draper temple and it was a beautiful special ceremony. Then they had a luncheon and reception at the White Willow in Provo. It was fun to have the whole family together and watch Sadie run around and have fun with her cousins! It was a special day and we were grateful to be a part of it! Here are a few pictures from the day.

Sadie is ONE! and Trick of Treat!

Sadie eating her first Oreo, do you think she liked it?

On October 29th Sadie turned ONE, I can't believe my baby is one!! Her actual birthday was on a Thursday, but we decided to have her party on Saturday which was Halloween. On her actual birthday I decided that we should do something fun, so I took her to a fun center in Layton that has big blowup bouncy toys. She was a little hesitant at first, but then got into it and had a really good time. I would have to say that her favorite thing at the fun center was Skee-ball, they gave us tokens when we paid and all she wanted to do for the first half hour was play Skee-ball which was funny, but fine by me because it is my favorite arcade game! She won a slinky which she also loved and you can see she has with her in the above picture! Then that night we decided to not give her, her cake but we gave her an Oreo which she loved. I think she liked it more that her cake, so I was wishing I just gave her a pack of Oreos instead of taking a few hours to make her pumpkin cake!

The witch and spider cupcakes from Sadie's party

Devin and Sadie opening presents!

Sadie poking at her cake and my hands showing how to really get in there!

On Saturday we had her party over lunch and both our families came. Sadie was a little overwhelmed and confused, but I think that is normal at every one year old party. I tried to get things that she lived, so I put jack-o-lantern punch balloons around and that seemed to make her happy! We had a yummy lunch and we made spider web cupcakes and witches for dessert, Sadie had her pumpkin shaped cake. She loves to eat, so we thought she would dive right in, but then realized she was nervous with everyone watching her, so she kind of just poked at her cake. When I put pieces in her mouth though, she did seem to like it! While Devin opened her presents all she really wanted to do was suck on a carrot, but now that we are home she is really liking all of her toys, books and clothes! Thank you to everyone who came, thank you for all of the wonderful presents and for celebrating with us.

Sadie the Butterfly!

After the party Sadie took a 3 hour nap, she partied hard, and then we got ready to go trick or treating! She looked adorable in her butterfly costume, but it was hard to get a good picture of her because she just wanted to chase my parents dog, Kosi and feed her crackers. So I don't think I really got a still picture of her the whole night! In my parents neighborhood they have a big park and everyone brings their cars and goes trunk or treating. It was so much fun, Sadie loved trick or treating with Carson, Brynnley, Daddy, Grandpa, Aunt Val and me (Grandma and Uncle Kyle manned the candy). I don't think she really knew what was going on, but when Devin showed her the sucker, she knew she liked what ever we were doing. I think most of all though she loved all of the dogs, she just loves dogs! A lot of people had brought their dogs with them down to the park, so she was really excited and would say "Dog, Dog" every time she saw or pet one. We had a really fun night!!

Sadie in now 20.72 lbs (45%) and 28.94 in (45%). She is loving being able to walk around and get into everything, she is pretty much running. She loves music and dances every time it comes on, I love it! She loves her stuffed animals, especially her giraffe that she sleeps with. She would love to have him with her every where but we make her leave him in her crib when she is not sleeping. Right now she loves carrying things back and forth to us and showing things to us. She loves balls; all kinds, big or small, she gets excited about all of them. She is babbling all of the time, but the words she can say are; Mama, Dada and Dog. She loves dogs and started off calling just dogs, dogs, but at the moment all animals are dogs! She makes us laugh everyday playing peekaboo behind doors, she thinks she is so funny. She also loves hitting her mouth and making "Indian noises", which is pretty interesting during church! She likes running away and then being chased and caught! We love her so much and are so grateful she is ours! Happy 1st Birthday Baby!

Carving Pumpkins 2009

Sadie helping get all of the seeds and guts out, what a good helper!

My two favorite people with our cute pumpkins!

The bat and the butterfly!

Tonight we carved our pumpkins, one of my favorite Halloween activities. It is funny that I love to carve them because I am really not that good at it. I usually do the scraping out and Devin does the carving, but this year I had to carve Sadie's for her! We decided to do a bat, I guess just for Halloween and then a butterfly which is what Sadie is going to be for Halloween. We set Sadie up on the table, so that she could help and she was in heaven. I thought she would want to get down or stand on the table, but she just sat there and helped. She was fascinated watching Daddy cut the pumpkins and then amazed as she looked inside. When Devin took the tops off she hurried to look over the edge inside and then looked up at us amazed with what she saw. Then she got excited as I started the pull all of the seeds and guts out, which actually is my favorite part. She is definitely my daughter because I think this was her favorite part too, she took a big spoon and was trying to help. She looked kind of shocked when I let her play in the guts and seeds, looking at me like mom you usually tell me no when I get into messy stuff! Then as Devin and I carved she sat and watched and sucked on the chunks we cut out, that's okay right because pumpkins are edible?! It was a fun night , Devin did an awesome job carving (thanks for carving ours Sweetie!) and Sadie liked it a lot more than we had anticipated. Happy Carving and Happy Halloween!

Fall Fun!

Sadie and I at the Barnyard Boo!
The kids and I jumping on the big pillow at Cornbelly's, I love all of their faces!

On the hayride at Cornbelly's!

A couple of weekends ago Sadie and I went down to stay at my parents for the weekend, we had a blast! We went down on Thursday morning and I had a consultation for a wedding that I am doing the flowers for in December for a stranger, it is really fun to be getting some clients (thanks mom for watching Sadie)! Then that afternoon I made a bridal bouquet for my soon to be sister in law, Jean. She was getting her bridals taken and she looked gorgeous! Sadie had a good time playing at Grandpa and Grandma Smith's that afternoon, she was Grandma's shadow! Then on Friday I was able to go to lunch with two of my good friends from high school, Angela and Mary. Angela was in town for a few days, so we got together for lunch. We had a blast talking about life then and now, I am so grateful for such wonderful friends! Then on Friday afternoon Val, my mom and I took the kids for The Barnyard Boo at Thanksgiving Point. Sadie had fun looking at all of the animals, she was calling them all "dos" aka dogs. It was fun to watch her get so excited! Then Devin came down that evening and we had a fun dinner at Kyle and Val's. We have a blast watching all of the kids play, I love that Sadie can play with the kids now. Then Devin went hunting with his brothers on Saturday and Sadie and I went to Cornbellys with my family. The kids had a blast and so did the adults, I think I had just as much fun on the big bouncy pillow as the kids! We jumped on the bouncy toys, went down the slides, took a hayride, went in a 3-D haunted house, rode the animal train, shot pumpkins, watched the chicken show, and did the cornmaze. What a fun day and such a fun weekend!
